RESOURCES
We believe that studying God's Word daily with intention and passion is the primary way we can discover who God is and what He is doing in this world. We know that it can seem like a daunting task, but we believe that with the right tools, alongside a Biblical Community, you will soon discover how transformative this extraordinary piece of literature that has literally changed the world is.
One Narrative
We believe the Bible is one unified narrative — the story of who God is and how creation is defined by Him. It is the living story of God making all things new, inviting us into relationship with Him.
When we read it this way, something powerful happens. We move from trying to master information to being formed by relationship with the God who is telling the story. We begin to see ourselves, the world, and our purpose differently — as part of God’s ongoing renewal project through Jesus and His people, the Church.
Instead of a distant rule-giver, we meet a God who is faithful, loving, and relentlessly committed to restoring what is broken.
The Problem
The single story of the Bible doesn’t shy away from what is wrong with our world. In fact, it looks straight at it. It shows the depth of the fracture — our broken relationship with God that has led to sin, idolatry, fractured relationships, and a creation that is groaning under the weight. Yet even in naming the problem so honestly, the story never loses hope. It reveals a God who is not distant or indifferent, but actively working to heal and restore what has been broken.
Reading the Bible as fragments (proof-texting favorite verses, turning stories into simple moral lessons, or reducing it to isolated doctrines) often distorts its message. It can shrink Christianity down to personal salvation or moralism. But when we see the whole story, we understand the real problem more clearly — and we become ready for the real solution.
The Solution
Jesus is not a surprise fix dropped into a random collection of stories. He is the climax of the long story of God’s faithfulness to His creation project.
The Bible’s unified narrative gives us identity, purpose, and direction. It calls us into God’s larger mission of new creation as His renewed family. When we approach Scripture this way, we keep Jesus at the center, ground our beliefs in God’s character and actions, and discover how the story of creation — goodness, brokenness, redemption, and renewal — defines who we are and what we’re called to do.
The Reliabilty of The Bible
The Bible’s reliability is best seen when we let it be what it is: a collection of stories, poems, letters, and prophecies that faithfully point to Jesus as the center. Rather than demanding it answer every modern question with clinical precision, we trust it because it has proven itself reliable in forming communities that reflect God’s love, justice, and renewal across cultures and centuries.
The Bible is an ancient collection of writings deeply rooted in history and culture that is a consistent testimony to the character of God and the real events of His interaction with humanity. There are tensions and uncomfortable realities about humanity that we have to face when we come to Scripture, but when we understand it on its own terms — as a unified story — we find remarkable coherence across centuries, varied cultures, languages and authors.
We don’t have to check our brains at the door. Honest questions are welcome here. The Bible has stood up to scrutiny for thousands of years — not by avoiding hard questions, but by inviting us deeper into the story of a God who is trustworthy.
Where to Start
Getting into the Bible can feel overwhelming at first, but it doesn’t have to be. Here are a few practical steps to help you begin:
Choose a good translation. No English translation perfectly captures every nuance of the original languages, but some do an excellent job of conveying the authors’ intent in clear, readable English.
NLT – Easiest to read and great for beginners.
NIV – A well-balanced, widely used translation.
NASB – More technical and word-for-word if you want to dig deeper. Start with whichever feels most natural to you.
Follow a narrative Bible plan. We strongly recommend starting with a reading plan that walks you through the Bible as one unfolding story rather than jumping around. Seeing the big picture helps everything else fall into place.

Read with relationship in mind. Remember, this isn’t primarily about mastering information — it’s about meeting God. The Bible is God revealing His character and intentions through real stories with real people. Keep a simple journal as you read. Write down questions, verses that stand out, things that trouble you, or moments that excite you. This turns reading into a conversation with God and creates opportunities for deep, rich conversations in your Nu Communities and Nu Labs.
Read with humility and community. The Bible was written to specific people, in specific times, with a particular worldview. As followers of Jesus, we are now part of that same story. A healthy approach asks two questions:
How would the original audience have understood this?
Holy Spirit, what does this mean for us today?
